It complies with the DMR protocol and can operate simultaneously with all radios. In digital mode, the radio conducts encrypted communication. External announcements are not interfered with, even if they are on the same frequency. In analog mode, it can communicate with any UHF (400-470 MHz) radio.

Thanks to its GPS feature, the Radiocom DT-4000 Handheld Radio can access location information from Radiocom DT-1000 handheld radios (with display). A wireless headset can be used in hands-free mode by activating Bluetooth.

Roaming (Automatic Relay Switching Function) allows for automatic connection when multiple relay devices in the system enter their coverage area. There is no need to change channels.

The 3100 mAh Li-Ion battery capacity allows for long-term use.
